Recently, the Jiangsu Association for Science and Technology (JAST) announced the selection results for the 2025 Jiangsu Science and Technology Think Tank Excellence Awards. The research report titled"Analysis, Impacts, and Countermeasure Recommendations for the Lebanon Communication Terminal Explosion Incident,"jointly authored by Prof. Cheng Guang and Dr. Jiang Bo from the School of Cyber Science and Engineering at Southeast University (SEU), was honored with the First Prize. This marks an important achievement for the School in providing think tank services to support Jiangsu's scientific and technological innovation and development.

To thoroughly implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, particularly General Secretary Xi Jinping’s series of important expositions and instructions on building a new type of think tank with Chinese characteristics and establishing a sound decision-making consultation system, the School actively promotes the responsible use of emerging technologies during its think tank development, aligns its research with major national strategic needs, and focuses on critical cybersecurity challenges. It also contributes to the development of sound norms for cyberspace governance, guided by a strong sense of national responsibility and a global perspective.

The award-winning research by Prof. Cheng Guang and Dr. Jiang Bo is rooted in the national strategy for cybersecurity and the practical development needs of Jiangsu Province. Focusing on cutting-edge issues and key technologies in the cybersecurity field, they proposed forward-looking and targeted countermeasures and recommendations. Their work has provided a crucial decision-making reference for cybersecurity governance and industrial development in Jiangsu. It has received high recognition and positive feedback from relevant government departments, demonstrating substantial academic and practical value.

Moving forward, the School will take this opportunity to break through cutting-edge basic theoretical challenges and master core technologies in cyberspace governance-related fields, such as cybersecurity, content dissemination and public opinion supervision, Internet law, big data, and artificial intelligence. The School will vigorously promote interdisciplinary research to produce more world-class research outcomes. It strives to produce more high-quality and high-visibility think tank achievements, contributing SEU's wisdom and strength to building a cyber powerhouse, a Digital China, a strong cyber province in Jiangsu, and supporting high-quality socio-economic development.

It is reported that the Jiangsu Science and Technology Think Tank Excellence Awards are organized by JAST. The initiative aims to accelerate the improvement of research capabilities among scientific and technological innovation think tanks in Jiangsu, continuously produce high-quality research outcomes, better serve the scientific decision-making of Party committees and governments, and provide technological and intellectual support for solidly advancing the new practices of Chinese modernization in Jiangsu.
