On the morning of September 18, 2025, the 2025 Graduate Opening Ceremony and Orientation of the School of Cyber Science and Engineering at Southeast University (SEU) was grandly held in Room YF101 of Jizhong Building at the Jiulonghu Campus. Attendees included He Yi, Secretary of the School Party Committee; Chen Liquan, Vice Dean of the School; graduate secretaries Li Meiqing and Zhang Lingnan; counselors Chen Ming and Sang Song; He Juxiang from the University Library; and all 2025 incoming graduate students at the Nanjing Campus. The event was hosted by Zhang Lu, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Dean of the School.

Prior to the official start of the ceremony, attendees watched the School’s introductory video to learn about its history and developmental milestones. The ceremony then officially commenced with all faculty and students singing the national anthem.

At the ceremony, Party Secretary He Yi extended a warm welcome to the graduate students embarking on a new academic journey. He walked the students through the School’s groundbreaking journey from "zero to one" and put forward three expectations: to make cybersecurity expertise our core competency, to consolidate and enhance our competitive edges through academic pursuits, and to value camaraderie and integrity for collective success. He also encouraged the students to remain true to SEU’s original aspiration of "gaining renown through science," uphold the responsibility of "serving the nation with talents," strive for continuous breakthroughs on their new journey, and write a brilliant chapter of youth in line with the university’s motto, "Strive for Perfection".

Dr. Dong Lu delivered a speech as the faculty representative. She stated that students should forge a solid academic foundation, strengthen practical capabilities, broaden interdisciplinary horizons, uphold ethical bottom lines, and bear responsibility for the country and the nation. By doing so, they can grow into talented professionals capable of undertaking important missions in the "fifth domain" of cyberspace.

Chen Ziyi, a master’s student from the 2024 cohort, shared three insights from her academic experience: "learn to value solitude and independent thinking," "embrace changes," and "dare to try and pursue your goals." She also extended her best wishes for the students to have a fulfilling graduate life.

Zhou Yanjun, a doctoral student from the 2025 cohort, spoke as the representative of the incoming class. He reviewed his academic journey, shared his expectations for doctoral life, and highlighted his research goal of carrying forward the cause of cybersecurity, which struck a chord with the students present. He pledged to shoulder his mission and strive to contribute to the development of China’s national security.

In the subsequent orientation session, Vice Dean Chen Liquan gave a detailed and comprehensive introduction to the graduate training programs and requirements of both the university and the School. Ms. He Juxiang presented the library’s resources and services. Academic affairs staff and counselors also introduced and answered questions regarding academic training plans, student status management, and other matters for the new students.

With the refreshing breeze of autumn, the incoming graduate students embark on a new academic journey. The 2025 Graduate Opening Ceremony and Orientation of the School of Cyber Science and Engineering concluded successfully.
